What is a manufacturing facility?

Artisanal oil production - on a commercial level

A manufacturing facility closes the gap between the court press and the industrial facility. It is suitable for companies that press in small to medium batches and need to guarantee the highest quality - and if necessary, rely on organic certification, traceability and HACCP documentation.

Suitable for whom?

Farmers with their own direct sales, delicatessen refiners, catering suppliers, organic businesses, contract millers for regional customers, distilleries and Demeter farms with their own processing requirements.

Typical operation: 50-500 t/year

Marketing: Direct sales, delicatessen

Certification: Suitable for organic use

Features of a manufacturing plant

Multiple press heads for different types of oil, multi-stage filtration (pre-filter + plate filter + optional membrane), filling station with quantity counter, batch-wise logging for organic audit, CIP cleaning option.

Filtration: 2-3 stages

Filling: Bottle & canister

Scalable: modularly expandable

What makes manufactured oil special?

Cold-pressed oils from controlled batches fetch €8-40 per 500 ml in direct sales - depending on the type of oil. The term “manufacture” inspires trust in buyers: regional origin, personal producer, traceable production.

Price range: €8-40 / 500 ml

Value creation: 5-12× raw material

Trust: Transparency & origin

Planning process

This is how we plan your manufacturing system

From the idea to the first oil: we accompany you through every step - from concept consultation to system design to commissioning and beyond.

The path to your own factory

1
Needs analysis & concept

Clarification of raw materials, capacity, target market and installation location. Based on these key data, we create a tailor-made system concept with an investment framework.

2
Offer & Planning

Detailed offer with machine specification, installation plan, media connections (electricity, water, compressed air) and delivery schedule. Adjustment until release.

3
Delivery & Assembly

Delivery and assembly by our technical team. CE compliant installation with full documentation. Typical assembly effort: 1-2 days depending on system size.

4
Commissioning & training

Joint test operation with your raw materials. Training your employees in operation, cleaning and maintenance. Handover of operating instructions and HACCP documents.

Planning parameters

We need this information for a specific offer. The more details you provide, the more precise our recommendation can be.

Raw material & capacity

Which oilseeds (rapeseed, linseed, pumpkin, olive, sunflower...)? Annual quantities in tons or hourly throughput? Continuous or seasonal operation?

Location & Infrastructure

Available installation space (m²), electricity connection (kW), water connection, heating. New construction or conversion of existing premises?

Target market & quality

Direct marketing, wholesale or export? Organic certification planned? Filling in bottles or canisters? These parameters determine the filtration and filling standard.

Oil types & suitability

Which oilseeds does your factory process?

The choice of system depends heavily on the type of oil. Oil content, viscosity, mucilage content and waxes determine which pressing technology and filtration are optimal.

Classics

Rapeseed, flax, sunflower

The most common oilseeds for manufacturing operations. High oil content (35–50%), easy to press. Rapeseed is prone to mucilage - plate filter recommended. Linseed oil is sensitive to oxidation: quick processing and low-oxygen filling are important.

Premium varieties

Pumpkin seed, black cumin, hemp

High-price seeds with direct marketing prices of €8–14/100ml. Pumpkin seed oil is intensely green and requires gentle pressing without generating heat. Hemp oil very sensitive to oxidation - cool storage and protective atmosphere when bottling.

Nut oils

Walnut, almond, hazelnut

Nuts with medium oil content (45–65%) and very high value. Important: careful peeling, even preheating and gentle filtration. Nut oils fetch €15-40/100ml when sold directly - the investment in quality technology quickly pays off.

Olive oil

Extra virgin olive oil

Special technology required: Malaxeur (kneading machine) in front of the press, then decanter or press. Processing within 24 hours of harvest for the highest quality. We are also planning mobile olive oil units for seasonal operations in Southern Europe.

Organic varieties

Demeter, EU organic, Naturland

Organic processing requires strict separation protocols between conventional and organic batches. Our manufacturing facilities are designed for organic certification in accordance with EU-ÖKO-VO 2018/848. Documentation interface for organic inspection bodies included.

Exclusive

Grape seed, argan, neem

Exotic oilseeds for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Often with low oil content (8-15%) and special ingredients that require special pressing temperatures and filtration processes. We provide manufacturer-independent advice based on your raw material analysis.

ROI & profitability

What a manufacturer brings economically.

Instead of selling raw materials, sell added value. The price range between oilseed and finished cooking oil is 5-12 times — our own factory taps into this margin directly.

Value creation ×5–12

Price range between oilseed and premium oil depending on the variety. Direct marketing opens up the full margin.

Rapeseed

Pumpkin
3.50 €/kg ⇒ 25-40 € oil (~10×)

Flax

Amortization

Time until full amortization of the factory - depending on pressing capacity and direct marketing.

Manufactory knowledge center

Manufactory pressing - bridge between Hofmühle and industry.

High-quality direct marketing, own brands, individual seed profiles - the knowledge of manufacturing class, economic efficiency and structure.

What is manufactory pressing?

Small series with 200–1,000 kg of seeds per day. Marketed directly, brand identity visible in the final product. Typical machines: OW 500 / OW 510 s-inox.

What distinguishes Manufaktur from Hofmühle?

Hofmühle: 50–200 kg/day, seasonal/part-time employment. Manufactory: 200-1,000 kg/day, full-time production, own bottling, own brand.

Which seed press is suitable?

OW 500 s-inox for standard seeds (rapeseed, sunflower). OW 510 s-inox for seeds with larger grains (walnut, almond). Both available immediately.

Which bottling plant?

Typical for the manufacturer is the OW Fill 400 (semi-automatic). Bag-in-Box: OW Fill BIB. For large glass bottles with screw caps: additional capping roller.

Which filter?

OW Jolly 10 (10-50 L batch) for entry-level manufacture. OW 40 chamber filter (100-200 L) for higher throughputs. Plus OW filter pump as a universal conveyor.

Economic efficiency of manufacturing

500 kg of rapeseed/day produce approx. 175 L of cooking oil (sales 4–7 €/L = 700–1,200 €/day) + 325 kg of press cake (100–130 €). Raw material costs approx. 150 €. Range 550-1,000 €/day.

Marketing approaches

Farm shop, weekly market, natural food specialist retailer, organic online shops, direct delivery to restaurants, event appearances (Apple Cider Festival, food truck), cooperative brands.

Certifications

Manufactory organic according to EC Organic Regulation 2018/848. Demeter, Bioland, Naturland inspection possible. IFS Food is often necessary for B2B food retail.

Investment

Manufacturing setup (seed cleaning + press + filter + storage tanks + bottling): typically €50,000–150,000 net. Specific planning on request.

Market & Brands

Manufacturing market is growing: premium cooking oils, organic direct marketing, regional brand worlds. Storytelling, transparency, farm visits are powerful marketing levers.
